2021 Subaru Ascent Base: The Ultimate Multi-Row Family Companion

Finding a vehicle that balances the rigors of a daily commute with the expanding needs of a growing family can be a challenge, but the 2021 Subaru Ascent Base rises to the occasion with ease. Imagine starting your morning in the quiet, tree-lined neighborhoods of Moore, OK, where the school run requires a vehicle that is as reliable as it is spacious. Whether you are loading up backpacks for the trek to the local elementary school or preparing for a weekend soccer tournament, this SUV provides the footprint and flexibility your lifestyle demands.

The transition from a busy work week to a relaxing Saturday is seamless when you have a vehicle designed for suburban life. Perhaps you are heading out to one of the many community parks in Choctaw, OK, to enjoy a family picnic or a hike along the local trails. The Ascent is built to handle these transitions, offering a sophisticated presence on the road while maintaining the rugged capability that has made the Subaru brand a staple for active families. This is more than just a mode of transportation; it is a mobile headquarters for your family's busiest chapters, ensuring that every trip is handled with confidence and comfort.

Engineered for Oklahoma Roads and Weather

Under the hood of this Crystal Black Silica SUV lies a powerhouse designed for efficiency and responsiveness. The 2.4L H-4 gasoline direct injection engine features a DOHC configuration and an intercooled turbo, delivering a robust 260HP. This engine is mounted longitudinally and built with an aluminum engine block, ensuring a balanced center of gravity that Subaru enthusiasts have come to expect. When you are navigating the highways toward Norman, OK, for a game day or a commute, the Lineartronic CVT provides a smooth, shiftless experience, though it also includes an 8-speed manual mode with sequential shift control for those who prefer a more engaged driving feel.

The drivetrain is a true highlight, featuring a full-time All-Wheel Drive system that is always active, providing power to the wheels with the most grip. This is complemented by a selectable driver drivetrain mode, allowing you to tailor the vehicles performance to the specific conditions of the road. The suspension system is equally impressive, utilizing an independent front suspension with struts and a double wishbone rear suspension. This setup, combined with gas-pressurized shock absorbers and front and rear anti-roll bars, ensures that the ride remains composed and comfortable, even when the Oklahoma winds pick up or the pavement becomes uneven. With a 113.8-inch wheelbase, the Ascent maintains a planted feel that inspires confidence behind the wheel.

    Seamless Connectivity for Every Passenger

In todays world, staying connected is not a luxury it is a necessity. The 2021 Subaru Ascent Base is equipped with the Subaru STARLINK 6.5-inch Multimedia Plus System, which serves as the central hub for all your entertainment and information needs. This primary monitor touchscreen is intuitive and responsive, featuring smart device integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This allows you to mirror your favorite navigation apps, music playlists, and contacts directly onto the screen, keeping your focus where it belongs: on the road.

The technology extends beyond the center console to the digital and analog instrumentation display, which includes a 4.20-inch gauge cluster display for vital vehicle information. To keep everyones devices powered up during long trips, the cabin is outfitted with 4 USB ports strategically placed for easy access. Steering wheel mounted audio controls and voice-activated audio controls allow you to adjust the volume or change the station without ever taking your hands off the uret

      Great up to a point

      by Adam C on 3/24/2026 1:28:49 PM

We have a 2020 Ascent Limited. We like its features. Ride is a bit bumpy (my wife's term) and there can be more than a little road noise - but less than in the Outback we used to own. Engine is strong. Don't believe those who say the accelerator is "touchy". Mileage is good at 23 - 24. The only major issue was with the CVT at 125,000 miles. Dealer wanted $5000 to replace the torque converters. I contacted Subaru and they covered the full repair out of warranty. Bullet dodged. My advice is to trade it under 100,000 miles.

      The Great Ascent

by Dorrellkc on 1/30/2026 3:00:46 AM

If your looking for a big Forester then the Ascent is it. Gas mileage is more smiles per gallon vs anything reasonable. The third row comes in handy when needed, but don't expect to put full size adults in the third row for more than a couple of hours. The third row should be reserved for the kids. The radio is ok but it does lag from the initial startup of the car to pressing buttons which is a bit annoying and I wish that I could update the software to the new software that is in the 26 Outback. Even with all of that said, the Ascent fits our needs and we are happy with the AWD system and the overall handling. The Ascent is a joy to drive and has been very capable when needed. Keep up with the maintenance schedule and drive it like a normal human and the vehicle will treat you well.

      Love this car

by Roddy on 10/20/2025 2:34:58 PM

The Ascent has comfortable seating with plenty of inside room with ease of entering and exiting, great visibility, smooth ride and plenty of power with the 2.5. Turbo. Gas mileage seems good for an all wheel drive ( if you don't have a heavy foot ). Outside noise is minimal. A relaxing drive on any road trip adventure.
